Practical fieldwork with a software mindset.

Environmental Engineer with practical experience installing, commissioning and maintaining environmental monitoring systems.

My work covers water level, water quality, flow, tidal and meteorological monitoring across nationwide networks, from field sensors and data loggers through telemetry and onward data delivery. I also develop web and mobile tools for retrieving and visualising instrument data.

  • Install, commission, maintain and fault-find water-level, water-quality, flow, tidal and meteorological monitoring equipment across national waterways, hydroelectric assets, harbours and weather-station networks.
  • Configure and troubleshoot primarily OTT and Campbell Scientific data loggers, diagnose sensor, power and communications faults, and manage remote data transfer using FTP, HTTPS and other telemetry connections.
  • Build web interfaces and mobile applications that retrieve monitoring data from field instruments and present it through clear, practical visualisations.

ESB Hydroelectric Network

Water-level logger and telemetry systems at hydroelectric assets nationwide, including Turlough Hill, Inniscarra, Ardnacrusha and Ballyshannon, with data delivery into SCADA and PI systems.

Waterways Ireland

Nationwide water-level monitoring across Ireland’s canals and navigable waterways, including the Shannon and Barrow systems.

Marine Institute

Tidal-monitoring installations at harbours nationwide, including sensors, loggers and communications.

Met Éireann

Approximately 80 CAMP stations and support for the ISMON network through servicing and fault-finding.

RPS

Water-quality monitoring around Dublin Port and Dublin Bay, including lighthouse and buoy instrumentation. Data is collected and reported to the EPA on a regular basis, with site visits every three weeks and weekly during dredging campaigns.
